Conferences Mean More Time Off Work

So I was at an SDE/ADS Surface Drilling Training Conference at the Vines Resort this week. The training itself was pretty good, I got to know more about the different products we (my company) sell and market. The food was average and the service was appalling.

At least I got to do the "team building" exercise: Go Karting at Wanneroo Kart Hire!
14 of us went from the resort to Wanneroo on the bus and got geared up for 4 heats of 4 laps. Mind you, having experience on a race track (albeit on a motorbike) helped me heaps. Knowing how to take a line was the be all and end all of fast karting.

In session 1, I started 4th and finished 3rd. Session 2, I started 7th and won, lapping 4 people.
Session 3, I started 3rd and t-boned one of the other guys and then got rammed from behind, finished 4th. Session 4, was leading by mid-lap 1 and then spun out on the final turn and got t-boned, came 6th.

Summary, won (and dominated) one race, broke two carts including a bent axle on the race I didn't finish. I came 4th overall. The guy that won the evening upon receiving his trophy thanked me for binning it and taking out all the other fast drivers... *sigh*
