Australia Day Weekender - Dunsborough

A large handful of people from PSB got together this long weekend gone to celebrate Australia Day in Dunsborough. We donned leathers and packed our shit and headed down early on Thursday morning, meeting at BP South Perth. Whilst filling up, waiting on everyone to arrive and stocking up on supplies, the Scarborough Tripper made an appearance. In she rode (on a new model scooter) singing, ranting and generally carrying on. "If they don't fucking like it, they should piss off to their own country", she yelled. I gave her a hug and she told me "good on ya for riding". She continued singing and rode off, only to be back in a few minutes just as we were gearing up to head off.

I can't remember the exact route, but we took the Freeway down to Mundijong road then some twistier bits to South West Highway (??) and followed that down to Dwellingup where we then detoured to the POW camp. A few km's in the wrong direction on very loose gravel, four of us ended up at the local golf clubhouse, so we went back and eventually found where we were meant to be. I don't believe anyone from the rest of the group could actualy be bothered walking to find this place... Regardless, was a good chance to test my offroad skills and take some more pix.

It had already been too long and we were nowhere near getting to Dunsborough soon, so we rallied to get going again and go pretty much straight to Bunbury for lunch, then take the last stretch to Dunsborough after a refill of the food and fuel kind. In Bunno we opted for KFC and Hungry Jacks - great healthy start, and another 3 days of bad food were to come.

Off to Dunsborough down Old Caves Road, where the traffic was simply bullshit. We eventually arrived to the Beachouse YHA, bummed around, hit the beach and sourced alcohol.

The next few days included lots of Bacardi, beer, aussie flags and tatts, sunburn, kissing randoms, licking randoms, being licked by randoms, zinc supplements, zing, a hissy fit or two, sleeping on the beach, jellyfish stings, nudie runs, great weather, better roads, kerosene and chain lube, dirty bikes and dirtier boys and girls, snoring farting and a severe lack of air conditioning. Everything else follows the "what happens on tour, stays on tour" rule; be it legal or otherwise.

Obviously, the main reason for the trip was to relax and for the better part of it all, it was very relaxing. Good mates, great times and brilliant rides. The roads were clean, twisty and fast. The food was oily and cheap and the booze was cold and crisp. I never did manage to eat that mango I bought tho, one of the sad moments of the trip. Also, I didn't really get any other pictures, but I know there's heaps floating around. I'll be sourcing those and putting them up in due time. Till then...

Now, I can't harp on enough of how much of a good time I had. To those that made it all the more enjoyable (you know who youse are); thank you very much - you're wonderful people.

Heading home yesterday morning meant a nice breakfast with the crew and a streamlined ride up to Mandurah for lunch; yep, Maccas. It was a stinkin' hot day and when I did eventually get home I nearly passed out. Wearing full leathers but drinking over 5L of water, I cooked in that suit, particularly when getting into the 60km/hr areas... no air flow! The afternoon was spent chilling out (literally) drinking more water and having a nap.

Last nite I also went out to dinner with my two fave boys and ate the most interesting beer fries - with bacon bits, cheese and BBQ sauce! Not only that but I got some gifts from the two - a brand spankin' new light switch for the bike and some devil girl stickers. Thanks boys! You know I luv yas! Now to get that switch fitted tonite...
