Map My Run!

I've started running. Why? Because it gives me something to strive for. A goal.

I've never been good at setting and reaching goals. For me; things usually just happened. This year, I'm calling the year of commitment. I will set goals, set targets and make things happen.

In a nutshell Brendan, a fellow PSB member, is kindly donating his time as a personal trainer to get us lazy bones' up and running in preparation for the 2009 City to Surf fun run.

Now, I've never been much of a runner, but after the first session on Saturday I started thinking that I can do this! With running and walking, I did a combined 4km!

He then set us some homework, 10 minute run, 1 minute rest, 10 minute run. The good news is that I've mapped out a nice little route that undulates and follows the train line. There aren't many people around and not too many cars. One way, its 1.6km - that's a two mile run twice a week! Holy cow!

Visitors

My aunty Ela and uncle Leon came over from Sydney last week to chill out with my mum and dad. Of course, I came over to visit too, and they dropped past my new place to check out the pad.

Back to Fencing

So the season has started for 2009. I haven't actually done a lot of fencing as my knees were sore over the summer. After seeing my doctor, he told me to rest up and strengthen the muscles that connect to the knee. He also suggested some Ortho shoe inserts to balance me too.

Even though I haven't been fencing as much and probably won't be until March, I have been appointed Assistant Bladez coach, looking after the under 12's with Liz. It's an interesting role that allows me to help coach the kids in fencing, and learn about kids in general. Like a child psychology lesson!

The Cavs website has also gotten good reviews which is always nice to receive.

Security

Today, Brad and Martina got made redundant at werk. I was shitting myself all day hoping I wasn't "next".

So much for job security.
